We hope that you had a lovely weekend with your family. We are missing you all but we hope that you enjoy today's activities. Remember to email your teachers at firstname.lastname@example.org with pictures of your home learning and if you have any worries, you can email Kaz or Julianne at email@example.com.
In year 5, we have been asking big questions. Let's begin the day by reflecting on this question and illustration.
Lesson 2 - Literacy
In this lesson, we will be learning about the poet Benjamin Zephaniah and the historical context behind his poem, The British.
Now, spend at least 30 minutes reading a book. If you haven't got one at home, then log into your Active Learn account and select a book to read. Remember to click on the bug icons to answer the questions and earn points.
Last lesson in school, you learnt about urbanisation, which is a type of migration, where people move from rural to urban areas. We focused on urbanisation in Brazil, where lots of people have moved from rural areas such as The Caatinga to urban areas such as Brasilia.
Urbanisation happens in countries all over the world. Lots of the teachers in our school didn’t grow up in London but chose to move there later. Some of our teachers even migrated from other countries!
Let’s carry out some research to see why people move to London. Find somebody in your household that moved to London from somewhere else and ask them the questions on the questionnaire below. If everyone in your household grew up in London, then email your teacher at firstname.lastname@example.org and they will happily answer your questions!
End of the day: Storytime
Continue listening to Harry Potter. Here is the link for the first book ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’. Click on the chapter that you are up to and enjoy!
If you have finished listening to the first book, then here is the link to the second book ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’.
Best wishes to you and your family,
Sophie, Charlotte, Alice, Nasima and Lauren
