Good morning Year 5!
How are you feeling this morning? Look at the image below of the eagle, soaring through the sky, and ask yourself this question, 'What is it that pulls me to the ground this morning?' Sometimes thoughts and worries can stop us from feeling as free as the bird in this picture. Before you start your learning today, check in with yourself and think about what you need this morning to fly!

Lesson 1 - Maths
Starter: Doubling is a useful strategy to use when multiplying. For example, if you needed to multiply a number by 4, you could double it twice.
15 x 4
double once = 30
double twice = 60
Let’s warm up with some doubling practise. Double the number on the inside to calculate what goes on the outside:
Now, have a go at doubling the numbers to complete the sequences:
Main activity: Today, we are multiplying 3-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers. Watch the video carefully, then complete the activities below. Once you have completed the questions, check your answers.
If you want to extend your learning, have a go at this problem:
Now spend 15 minutes on Mathletics. Either complete activities that your teacher has set, or have a go at the multiplication and division activities.
Lesson 2 Literacy
Starter: Yesterday, you spent some time inferring information from a text. To begin today's lesson, we would like you to have a go at matching the sentence to the situation it infers. The first one has been done for you.
Main activity: In this lesson, we will investigate the suffixes -able and -ible, spot patterns and generate spelling rules, and explore the meaning of words and word classes.
Lesson 3 - Spanish
¡Hola a todos! (Hello everyone!)
Since each of you have Spanish on the same day every week, you probably know how to say THAT day in Spanish. However, do you know the other días de la semana (days of the week)?
Now that you’ve had a refresher on the days of the week, have a go at following along as Lauren reads a short story about Paola’s week! It uses loads of vocabulary that you have already learned, such as “me gusta” or “I like.” While you’re reading the story, see if you can answer the following questions:

Lesson 4 - Character Making
For your final task of the day, we would like you to do something a little bit silly. We would like you to make a character out of objects around your home.
Poetry with Alice
Listen to Alice read a poem and then have a go yourself. I wonder if you can use as much expression and volume as Alice does...
Well done for getting to the end of another day of home learning. Remember to keep emailing us with your home learning - we love seeing what you have been getting up to! Make sure you leave your work space tidy and relax by doing something that fills your bucket!
Best wishes to you and your family,
Sophie, Alice, Charlotte, Lauren and Nasima
