Here is today's home learning for anyone that still needs to self-isolate at home.
You don't need to do this if you are back in school.
Lesson 2 - Literacy
Starter: Spelling practice
Activity 1: We are continuing to learn about Varjak Paw.
First, listen to chapters 9 - 12.
What has happened?
Varjak thinks that cars are dogs!
How has the author, SF Said, enabled this to happen?
Did you notice that instead of the author telling us that Varjak has mistaken cars for dogs, he has decided to describe them like dogs so that the reader infers it?
He uses personification.
Click on the blue button below to learn about personification.
Why is SF Said's writing more powerful than if he had just written “Varjak saw some cars and thought they were dogs"?
Activity 2: Spend 30 minutes on Active Learn. Choose a book that your teacher has set you and read it carefully. Each time you see a little green bug, click on it and answer the questions. You will earn points that you can redeem in your account.
