Compliments from the RNLI
Hello,
I visited your school yesterday to deliver water safety messages.
I just wanted to say what a pleasure it was to meet the children and Year 4 staff, they were so welcoming. I was extremely impressed by the behaviour and general demeanour of the children. They were very attentive, listened well and engaged well, asking good searching questions.
I hope that in the future they will always remember the key messages about how to stay safe and what to do in an emergency.
Please could you pass this message on your headteacher Sian and to Alice in Year 4 who made the arrangements.
I would be pleased to visit your school again at some stage in the future.
Best Wishes
Jan Harris

Dear Jo
I wanted to get in touch to conclude the weaving project. I’m sorry it’s taken a few weeks to get in touch, we’re closing our other museum site in the city very soon and it’s been a very busy few weeks running closing events.
We loved working with your year 5s for the project.
We’d also love to hear any feedback from yourself, Sophie and the children about the project.
Let me know your thoughts.
Best wishes,
Zoe.

Design + Technology Project in Year 5
Hi Jo
I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed coming into the school this week and working with Year 5. They were a delight to spend time with and teach. I think they were really proud of what they made and it was a very intense but very fruitful four days.
Can you please thank the four trainee engineers that came in yesterday as they were so wonderful with the children and bonded with them and worked with them in such a relaxed and friendly manner. The children were also wonderful asking their questions and we must try to do more of these types of sessions as it is so fruitful I think to both parties.
It was good we got to power the toys by motors thanks to Dan. I think it would be nice to do a short film of some of the outcomes and Jerome mentioned that he would be interested in doing some sort of sound/music contribution with some of the children? So maybe that’s something we could think about for the website? Possibly we could film early next term? Maybe use some of the outcomes in a display also? - I realise storing them in the class can be problematic though.
Finally all the Year 5 staff were as ever very supportive of the project and the work they did with the children independently enhanced and enriched the project greatly.
I plan to come in early next week to set up a small display of Year 3 pivot toys (outside the music room). Sorry it has taken me so long to do this but I’ve been really busy here on a number of different fronts but I’ve now promised a child that it would be set up by next week so I have to fulfil my promise, so it will get me to do the display over the weekend.
Again thanks for asking me to work with a year group and have a lovely weekend.
See you next week.

Thanks from Carmel, the founder of Magic Breakfast
Dear Jo,
I just wanted to send my warmest thanks and appreciation for the beautiful breakfast set and artwork by children at your school. Just stunning! And to also thank you and the team there at Blue Gates for making it happen. If there’s a chance to thank the children in person - maybe I could do a video clip or even come over, I’d be delighted to. But if not, please can you tell the children I love each unique piece, that they are amazing and talented beyond words & I will treasure their work forever. Love & thanks too to Helena, Jess and Emily at Magic Breakfast - making sure Blue Gates children get their fuel for making even more art masterpieces! Thanks again Jo, Carmel xx |
From Sarah, our SCARF PHSE teacher
It was lovely to teach at Blue Gate Fields Junior last week. As ever, the classes are beautifully behaved, fun to work with, full of great ideas and very emotionally literate. I have looked on your school blog and seen the pages on PSHE which are great. Thank you for naming us on it. I also looked at the pages on staff well being which I found very interesting . We have a section on the Whole-school SCARF part of the website about staff wellbeing which you may want to look at and use.
Lastly, I can’t end this email without mentioning the amazing artwork that your children do at school. Their ceramics could easily be sold in a gallery! I particularly liked the Covid viruses and the Quentin Blake birds.

Carmel, the founder of Magic Breakfast, receives our gift
The breakfast sets were truly fantastic and went down an absolute storm, Carmel was very emotional on receiving them and the drawings and I know she will treasure them. The pupils of Blue Gate Fields Jun are exceptionally talented! Have you ever entered any of their work in the Young Artists Show at the Royal Academy?

Being there for my children
I am writing this today to thank you for all the support that you have extended to me and my children over the years at Bluegate Fields Juniors. From the time my daughter started Juniors you have been more than helpful and supportive and it means more to me than you will ever know.
I remember my daughter being so very scared and nervous starting juniors, as can be expected. But having such lovely ladies working in reception always making everyone feel welcomed at the school that my children have felt and feel very comfortable. Not sure if you can remember, but you told my daughter if ever she felt scared or needed anything just to come to you. We feel that you have been very friendly and supportive and because of this, both of my children have learned and grown a lot and have enjoyed their time at the school. I also feel if I need help with somethings, that I am always welcome to come back even after my children leave and for that I am grateful.
Yours Sincerely

What an amazing thank you!
Dear Blue Gate Fields school,
One of my patients named Major Michael Treacy has asked me to pass on his sincere thanks to Tanisha. Michael has a card on his windowsill which was drawn and written by Tanisha, which he treasures very much even though Christmas is well behind us now. Today when I visited Michael he told me, ‘I don’t know who this little girl is, but I would love to thank her,’ so I said I would try to send a message. Michael doesn’t have family or friends to visit him, but he is well looked after in his home. His days are brighter because of Tanisha’s lovely card with a drawing of the London Eye.
Thank you Tanisha,

A message from David Bratby of Splash Arts Community arts projects
Thank you so much for showing me your wonderful school and the splendid artwork within it.
I was impressed by the
Ceramic figurines and birds
The papier mache garden
Colourful tea mugs
1st WW lamp shades
plants or figures using collage techniques
Functioning Zoetropes
Line drawings of figures.
And very importantly; the closely observed drawings of Bangladeshi vegetables/plants including Gourds. Your children have good teachers. Your suggestion of having one of your art teachers present with the children while Louise conducts her ZOOM class is most welcome.
To confirm, I delivered 50 drawing books and 50 HB pencils as Louise is going to concentrate on line drawings of plants and animals found in King Edward Memorial Park.
I also included 12 packs of 12 colouring pencils just in case.
Yours truly

We hosted a group of visitors and funders for Magic Breakfast and received these lovely compliments:

I would just like to thank you for the lovely visit this morning. It was great to meet you in person and also experience how a Magic Breakfast club works in action. I must say I was deeply impressed of how well organised everything was at Blue Gate Fields, which I am sure must come down to you and your lovely staff and management team.
Regarding your idea of extending supporter visits to the class rooms (which I think is a brilliant idea) and the auction of the clay sculpture, I will bring it up with our team here at Magic Breakfast and I will keep you updated on the progress.
I hope you have a great rest of the week and I hope to speak to you soon!

Dear Blue Gate Junior School,
Thank you all for a lovely visit today. You all worked very hard on your collages, and made some fabulous, imaginative artworks. You should be very proud of yourselves- keep up the good work! And most importantly, you also tidied up nicely afterwards, which is also part of being an artist.
Best wishes,
Neal

A 'thank you' treat from Magic Breakfast
I am writing to you as we have had a lovely opportunity offered to us from Foxlow restaurants, one of our partner restaurants who do some great work for Magic Breakfast. They are offering four Magic Breakfast Schools the chance to bring 30 pupils each along with their teachers to a Foxlow Restaurant on the morning of 10th October to celebrate World Porridge Day.
I would like to invite Blue Gate Fields as acknowledgement of the continually fantastic job you have done with your breakfast club and more recently, the bagel station, ensuring that all pupils in the school have access to something to eat in the morning without barriers or stigma. I always love visiting Blue Gate Fields and certainly consider yours to be one of our best best-practice schools!

Extracts from a letter
I visited the Royal Academy, last week, and found myself in the company of a party from your school.
I would like you to know that they added, greatly, to my enjoyment of the morning and enhanced my appreciation of the sculpture exhibition.
Your children were a delight. Their courtesy towards others in the gallery was exemplary. The maturity and sensitivity of their behaviour towards each other and to their staff were what we might expect from young people many years their senior. They had interesting insights into the artwork; and their enjoyment and their thinking were charming.
I was also impressed by the elegant management of the event by your colleagues - noting, particularly, that the high regard in which your children held them, was amply reciprocated: staff and pupils, were, truly, 'partners in learning'.
It is clear that your school is a very special place.

A thank you from Anna Conomos, storyteller
Thank you so much for the card and the gorgeous flowers! It was so wonderful being back in your lovely school again. I always feel so energised by the pupils and teachers! The staff were brilliant and I am really proud of Year 3, they have made me laugh and it was so rewarding to teach them in the storytelling workshops and watch them perform.
