On Monday 8th February we celebrated the start of Chinese New Year. This is the Year of the Monkey!
Imogen came to teach us some Chinese words and phrases. We can say “Ni hao!” (“Hello!), and wish each other “Xin nian kuai le!” (“Happy New Year!”), in Mandarin.
She also told us the names of the animals of the Chinese Zodiac, and the numbers from 1 to 12. Some children helped to tell the story of the naming of the years, wearing masks to represent the animals.
