Charlotte's Year 5 Literacy Group were very lucky to be able to work with the master storyteller, Daniel Morden, when he visited BGFJ ahead of his performance at The Old Vic Theatre, as part of this year's Children's Bookshow. Daniel told us that he likes stories from 'long, long, long, long, long, long ( x 10!) ... long ago! We discussed with him the elements of a good story, and Daniel said that his favourite childhood book had been the stories of The Brothers Grimm. We were spellbound as Daniel retold a tale called 'The Water of Life'. He made us jump, even when we knew it was coming! Leaving the story on a cliffhanger, Daniel asked us to imagine what happens next, and write our own endings.
On Friday 2nd November we made the trip to The Old Vic to see Daniel in action, as he captivated the audience with more stories. We were all really privileged to receive a free gift of our very own copy of Daniel's new book, 'Secret Tales from Wales', each of which he signed for every one of us!
