The presentation ceremony was on the 30th floor of the Clifford Chance building, Canary Wharf. Such dizzying views! It was an evening of mounting anticipation, as the results were called out in reverse order. We were on the edge of our seats, until we found out the marvellous results! The certificates and prizes were awarded by the prize-winning poet, Joseph Coelho. We were lucky to have Joe launching our Poetry Week a few years ago, so he knew our school well. The following day our three winners attended a workshop with him, and wrote a group poem with some children from Cubitt Town school (see below). Please look on our Poetry blog for the prize- winning poem.
Check in the library in the Autumn term for the THCW publication, and read the great short stories and poems.
Clothes are jewels
Swishing and rustling.
Ants in my pants!
Shoes make me feel like I’m walking on air.
Floating, floating, floating in Space.
Shiny, shiny, shiny shoes,
Tongues flapping as they dance
As if they’re on Strictly Come Dancing.
A poem created at the Tower Hamlets Creative Writing workshop, with Joseph Coelho, using his MORERAPS method.
