We invited Bigland Green Primary School to come to Blue Gate Fields to play a friendly basketball game during our After School Club. Our year 3 students involved knew it was going to be a challenge playing against year 4 students, but were very keen to play anyway. They played their hardest and worked well together as a team. All the students from both schools showed off their passing, dribbling and shooting skills that they have learnt and practiced in PE. We won 4 points to nil, but most importantly all the students involved had a lot of fun.
A small group of students are learning how to inline skate in one of our specialist taught after school PE clubs. The students wear protective equipment and are provided with skates from THYSF or bring their own. The coach teaches them how to fall without hurting themselves first then how to skate using the correct techniques. At the end of the term they will have an inline skating disco where they can show off their new skills!
Two of our Year 6 Boys played for the Tower Hamlets Primary District Football Team on Saturday at Douglas Eyre Sports Ground. The game was for the first round of The Kay Trophy Cup and they played the Hackney Primary District Team. Unfortunately Tower Hamlets lost on the day but all the boys learnt a lot from the experience and are getting better with each game they play together as a team. All of our year 5 students over the course of the year will have the opportunity to visit Stepney Green Secondary School and participate in lessons run by the year 10 Sports Leaders. They will do a variety of sports such as basketball and table tennis using the facilities available at the school.
A group of Year 5 students played in a hockey competition on Sunday representing Tower Hamlets in the Essex League. The team traveled via mini bus to the pitch and played several games over the morning. They all did very well and had a lot of fun! This half term in PE our year 3 students will be learning how to move their bodies with control and work in groups through gymnastics. They will use mats, benches, vaults and the climbing apparatus to improve their balance, strength and coordination. Check out the pictures below of their first lesson! |
