The World Book Day Parade was full of delightfully creative book character costumes! Kaysan, Elizabeth, Rehan and Sameeha, members of the School Council, judged the competition. It was difficult to decide, as each class had put in so much hard work, and effort. All of the displays were excellent, in different ways. The judges had to consider: • Wow factor • Children’s input • Teacher input • What they really liked about the display They gave a rating of 1 to 10 in each category, and then they chose their ‘Top 4’. After a discussion to reach a consensus, the winner was Class 9. Their display was based on ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’, by C. S. Lewis, and they had an amazing wardrobe, with a door into ‘Narnia’! The 1st prize was a trip, on World Book day itself, to the Genesis theatre, for the Tower Hamlets Schools’ Library Service event with the author Chitra Soundar, and also Afternoon Tea in the library, with Sue! World Book Week began on Monday morning with an exciting school assembly! The teachers in each year group brought to life an extract of a book. We heard about Little Rabbit Foo Foo, Wolf Academy, Little Red Riding Hood and we even tried to solve the mystery of who had pushed Humpty Dumpty. |
