Aspiration Day 2016

30/11/2016

Aspiration Day 2016 was a huge success! Year 6 hosted twenty-two special guests who all gave up their time to come and spend the afternoon talking to us about their jobs. We found out what it meant to be an astronomer, banker, civil engineer and stylist amongst many other occupations. The year 6 pupils found inspiration by experiencing the job of an architect, nurse and civil servant. The comments made by our visitors made it clear that the pupils at Blue Gate Fields Junior are certainly going to be the valued employees of the future; good manners, thoughtful questions and interested attitudes were all complimented.

Jo, one of our speakers, wrote to say,

'I wanted to say a big thank you for welcoming me into the school last Friday afternoon. I really appreciated seeing the school and meeting such lovely, well behaved and engaging young pupils. Your school seems a wonderful place and has a real calm, family feel. I’ve been to many schools across London and you have certainly become one of my favourites!'.

Year 6 can all be proud of themselves for making the day so inspirational.

Foodbank Charity

11/11/2016

Over the next two weeks we will be collecting food for the charity Foodbank.

Tower Hamlets Foodbank works to tackle hidden hunger through the provision of emergency donations of food and support to those facing real crisis. If you would like to find out more about the charity please go to:

www.towerhamletsfoodbank.org.uk

You can help by donating in date, long- life, non-perishable food and toiletries for people facing crisis in the borough.

You can give the food to your child's teacher or leave it in the Foodbank box in reception. The final day for collection will be Friday 25th November.
