School Council

The School council meets weekly and is an opportunity for pupils to have a voice in school.

The Council is made up of class elected representatives from all of the classes and year groups.

The meetings are a way for pupils to bring ideas, suggestions, concerns and even complaints from their classes to be discussed with other Council members and staff members.

The School Council is proud to have run competitions, surveyed pupils about their attitudes towards school and created promotional films – they have even been involved in the recruitment of new staff!

Week 16 and 17:

School Council have been tasked with a very special job!

We have been asked by Tower Hamlets Parks and Green Spaces and landscape designers to help re-design King Edward Memorial Park. We have got a very meeting next week to discuss our ideas with them.

Week 15: Treating people with more kindness

While we wait to contact Richard Hospice, we thought about where we would like to see improvement in kindness around the school. We noticed that the way children interact with the dinner hall staff could be improved. We thought of different ways that we could do this.

Week 13 and 14: Richard House Children's Hospice

Over the past two weeks, we have been considering how we might show kindness to Richard House Children's Hospice. Some of our ideas included creating a video, putting on a fundraiser or writing a letter.

Week 12: How can we spread our kindness across the community?

After last week's discussion identifying different groups in our local community, we looked at different ways we can spread kindness to these groups.

Week 6: Creating the storyboard for our video

After collecting some brilliant ideas for the video, this week we decided what order they should be put in. We are starting to get a good vision for how the video is going to look and have had some excellent suggestions for direction.

Week 5: Brainstorming ideas for our video!

This week, we spent time brainstorming what we will include in our video about kindness. We jotted down ideas in our notebooks.

Week 4: What should School Council do to show kindness at school?

This week, we continued coming up with ideas of how to show kindness at school and voted on our favourite idea. We decided that the most effective way of spreading kindness around our school was to make a video...

Week 3: How can we show kindness at school?

This week, we built on our understanding of kindness and discussed what we can do in school to show kindness. We read, 'Pass It On' by Sophy Henn, which inspired lots of practical ideas. We can't wait to put these ideas into practice!

Week 2: How can we show kindness?

This week, we discussed how we can show kindness to ourselves, others and the world. One of our school councillors said, "the kindness you put into the world will always come back to you!" This made us think about what kindness we could put into our school...

Week 1: What is kindness?

This week, we discussed what kindness means to us. We jotted down our ideas in our School Council notebooks.
