School Council

The School council meets weekly and is an opportunity for pupils to have a voice in school.

The Council is made up of class elected representatives from all of the classes and year groups.

The meetings are a way for pupils to bring ideas, suggestions, concerns and even complaints from their classes to be discussed with other Council members and staff members.

The School Council is proud to have run competitions, surveyed pupils about their attitudes towards school and created promotional films – they have even been involved in the recruitment of new staff!

Our School Food Policy

School Council have been working with School Food Matters on a Healthy Zones project. Watch the video to find out more!

School Councillors 2022-23

The school councillors for 2022-2023 have been voted for and are already working hard on their next project. Here they are below, if you see them around the school don't forget to say hello and to ask them if you need any help or tell them of any concerns you may have.

Planning an outside space

School Council were lucky to be joined by Louise Hildreth to begin planning improvements to the unused green space in the playground.

Preparing for the project

The School Councillors have been creating items to use in their new project. See if you can guess what it might be? It will be revealed to the whole school in the New Year...

First School Council meeting

While we wait to contact Richard Hospice, we thought about where we would like to see improvement in kindness around the school. We noticed that the way children interact with the dinner hall staff could be improved. We thought of different ways that we could do this.

Week 13 and 14: Richard House Children's Hospice

Over the past two weeks, we have been considering how we might show kindness to Richard House Children's Hospice. Some of our ideas included creating a video, putting on a fundraiser or writing a letter.

Week 12: How can we spread our kindness across the community?

Week 6: Creating the storyboard for our video

After collecting some brilliant ideas for the video, this week we decided what order they should be put in. We are starting to get a good vision for how the video is going to look and have had some excellent suggestions for direction.

Week 3: How can we show kindness at school?

This week, we built on our understanding of kindness and discussed what we can do in school to show kindness. We read, 'Pass It On' by Sophy Henn, which inspired lots of practical ideas. We can't wait to put these ideas into practice!

Week 2: How can we show kindness?

This week, we discussed how we can show kindness to ourselves, others and the world. One of our school councillors said, "the kindness you put into the world will always come back to you!" This made us think about what kindness we could put into our school...
