History: Did the Britons resist or welcome the Romans?

25/1/2023

In History this week, we have been discussing the question: Did the Britons resist or welcome the Romans? To unpick our question, we focused on Boudicca and explored history from different points of view: the Celts and the Romans. We discovered that while some Britons welcomed the Romans, others, including Boudicca, resisted. We considered how both Britons and Romans might have regarded Boudicca differently and suggested reasons for why that might be. Here is some of our work.

History: Why did the Romans want to invade Britain?

19/1/2023

In History, we have been discussing why the Romans wanted to invade Britain. After exploring Iron Age artefacts and sources from Tacitus, a Roman historian and politician, and the Roman general, Julius Caesar, we discovered that Romans wanted metal for armour and weaponry, as well as crops for food.

Interfaith week

12/1/2023

Year 3 have been enjoying Interfaith week while exploring the question: What do people believe about God? As part of Interfaith week, we also prepared questions about Judaism before welcoming a member of the Jewish community into Year 3. We had a fascinating time listening to Leon and learnt so much! Here are some of the questions we asked.

History: How and why did the Roman empire spread?

5/1/2023

Year 3 have started their learning journey about The Romans in Britain by researching how and why the Roman Empire spread. We discovered that the Romans began by invading their neighbours before steadily growing in power. They invaded countries because they wanted their resources; for example, metal to create weaponry and slaves to help them build and fight.
