Today, The Museum of London (Docklands) and Stitches in Time worked with year 3s to design their own tote bag. The theme was: What makes me me? The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience as this provided them with an opportunity to explore their own identity.
In Spanish class, all the year 3 students have been learning the Spanish version of this well-known song ‘En la granja de mi tio’ (Old McDonald had a farm). They have practised their vocabulary on animals and used a memory aid to help with new vocabulary.
In History this term, we have been learning about the Romans and went to find out more by visiting the Museum of London. We learnt that the Romans ate snails and oysters, and their favourite food was dormice! Did you know that the word barbican means castle?
Today in Science, Class 3 used their pattern seeking skills to answer the question: Do taller people have bigger hands and feet? Like all great scientists, they first made a prediction and then they discussed how they would answer the question. They agreed they would use a ruler to measure each others hands and feet, and then record their findings in a table so that they wouldn't forget each others' measurements.
In numeracy, children used bar models to help them see addition problems clearer. They understood that swapping the two numbers would yield the same total, that is, addition is commutative.
In numeracy, children used their Growth Mindset to arrange 9 triangles to make one big triangle so that the numbers that touch add up to 10. Why not give your brain a workout and have a go yourself? https://nrich.maths.org/192
On Monday 27 January, the wonderful Pat Ryan came to tell year 3s a tale or two. The children thoroughly enjoyed it!
