This morning, Class 2 created some line drawings based on local monuments in London. We were focusing on the different lines and shapes that we could see hidden in the buildings. This built on our Jarman handwriting practise in which we focused on horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines. Year 3 have become petrologists (scientists who study rocks) as part of our Science topic about rocks. Today, we planned a fair test to investigate the hardness and permeability of rocks. We discovered that not all rocks are hard and that more of our rocks were impermeable than permeable. Here we are in action. Different artists' artwork was compared and discussed by the children. They discussed the contrast in colours, contours, and the artists' depictions of their subjects. During their Art class, Class 1 have been learning about the many names for colours in Spanish. They were able to distinguish objects by colour and name the colour of their choice in Spanish. |
