Friday 3rd April 2020

3/4/2020

Hola Year 3!  How are you feeling this morning? A huge thank you to Maryam K, Siria, Sahra, Nehan, Surah, Ishaq and Manha for sharing their work with us.  Take a look at their wonderful work...
Our email address is: year3@bgfjs.org (but remember to include your name on the email so we know who it's from!).  So, if you would like to say hello or have questions to ask or even tell us a joke, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Are you ready for some wake up exercise with Joe? Let’s take a look at today’s timetable:

PE with Joe Wicks

9-9.30: Jo Wicks, a fitness coach, is running PE sessions for children every day at 9am on his Youtube channel. So, if you’re unable to do it at 9am, all his videos will be saved on his channel for you to use at another time.  Remember to take a sip of water if you need one.

Lesson 1: Numeracy

Starter
Let’s warm-up and revise the 2x, 5x and 10x times tables. First, download the sheet. Then, write the numbers in the Venn diagram.

1) Today, we will be looking at how we can partition numbers. Watch the video and answer the questions.

Break
Time for another brain break. Go grab yourself a drink and talk to someone about how you're doing! Remember to wash your hands with soap for 20 seconds if you're getting something to eat or after going to the toilet!

Riddle: Hold it steady in your hand, then you will see another land, where right is left, and left is right, and no sound stirs by day or night; when you look in, yourself you see, yet in that place you cannot be.

Answer will be revealed at lunch time!

Lesson 2: Literacy

1) Starter: on the table place the words in the correct word class.

2) In literacy, we have been learning about subordinating conjunctions. Watch the video to refresh your memory.

3) Can you turn the questions below into subordinating conjunction sentences? Use the example to help you.

Example:       Hidayah stayed behind after school. She had computing club.

Hidayah stayed behind after school because she had computing club.

         a) Zahi bumped his head. He slipped on the floor.

         b) Maria was annoyed, she didn’t find her favourite jumper.

         c) Hunzala brushed his teeth. He went to bed.

Challenge: Can you write your own subordinating conjunction sentences?

Lunch

It’s time to relax.  First things first, remember to wash your hands with soap for 20 seconds before you eat!  What will you be devouring for lunch today?  Something mouth-watering and deliciously healthy?

(The answer to break time’s riddle is… mirror!)

Joke: What do you call an alligator in a vest?

Answer will be revealed at the end of the day!

Lesson 3: Art (drawing cartoons)

Grab a paper and pencil ad follow the video to draw Boots from Dora and The Lost City of Gold.
Top tip: pause the video after each step!

Send us your drawings and the rest of your work for us to see at: year3@bgfjs.org (don't forget to include your name on the email so we know who it's from!)

End of the day:

Great work today!

Today’s story time is written and illustrated by Fiona Roberton and read by Sarah Silverman. Click the button to listen to The Tale of Two Beasts.

Are you sitting comfortably? Let’s unwind and enjoy.

Remember, you should be aiming to read for at least 20-30 minutes every day either on Active Learn (Bug Club) or with a book.

If you have any questions or would like to send your lovely work for us to see, email us at: year3@bgfjs.org (don't forget to include your name on the email so we know who it's from!)

See you next week for another week of fun learning!

(The answer to lunch time’s joke is… An investigator!)
