Answer at the end of the day!

Lesson 3: Art
1). 5 Minute Silly Draw. Set the timer here and get ready!

You have 5 minutes to draw a piece of fruit in outer space.
3, 2, 1 GO!!!!

Picture
Today we are going to learn about the abstract artist Jackson Pollack and make your own piece of abstract art.
Take a look at his most famous artworks.
Picture
Jackson Pollock working
Abstract art features colours, feelings and shapes and Jackson dripped and splatted paint onto a canvas on the floor!
He didn’t plan what he was going to draw or paint and just used chance and accident.
This is called automatism, have a go yourself!
1)
  • Get a piece of paper and a pencil. Put your pencil on the paper. Then close your eyes and let your pencil draw all over the paper. Now open your eyes. You have just made your first piece of automatism!
  • Maybe get another colour and add another layer.
Picture
When you have finished your drawing, think about these questions:
What do you see when you look at your drawing?
What shapes can you see?
What kind of lines can you see?
How does the picture make you feel?
How does the drawing make you feel?
Do you like it? Why?
2). If you have:
  • paints- watercolours are best
  • paper
  • string (not essential)
  • a pipet (not essential)
  • a straw (not essential)
Click the video below to create your own splatter and drip painting.
or watch the video below from 3:22 to create a Jackson Pollock inspired crazy hair painting.
If you have colouring pencils, download Jackson Pollock colouring sheets here

We would love to see a picture of your wonderful Jackson Pollock creations so email us at year3@bgfjs.org
