Here is today’s timetable:

Thank you to everyone for sending in their amazing work! We really enjoy looking at all the learning you have been doing at home. Keep sending them in! Here is some work by Sahra, Surah and Ridwan.

9-9:30 - PE with Joe

Lesson 1: Literacy

1)   Today we are going to learn about facts and opinions. Click here to watch the videos and have a go at the activities.

2)   Now answer these questions about facts and opinions.

You can think through your answers or write them down as full sentences.

  • What is a fact? Give an example from the video.

  • What is an opinion? Give an example from the video.

  • What does a fact need to be supported by?
3)   Have a go at these activities to show your understanding of facts and opinions.

Remember: A fact is something that is true whereas an opinion is what someone thinks or believes.

Activity 2

Decide which of the following statements are facts and which are opinions.

Top tip!
If you read the sentence and think that someone might not agree with it then it’s an opinion. Facts are always right.

1. Pandas are cuter than meerkats.
2. The Houses of Parliament are in London.
3. Apples grow on trees.
4. My cat is the best cat in the world!
5. Ice cream is horrible.
6. Water will become ice if the temperature is cold enough.

Activity 3

Complete the ‘Fact or Opinion?’ activity sheet.
You need to write one fact and one opinion for each topic.
For example: Write one fact and one opinion about any animals of your choice.
  • Fact: Tigers have stripes to help them hide better in their natural environment.
  • Opinion: Elephants are the funniest animals because of their big ears and trunks.
Either print the sheet out and write on it, or write your facts and opinions down on paper.

Top tip!
If you don’t know a fact, try looking on the Newsround website for ideas. Use the search box at the top of the page to find useful content.

 4)   Now have a go at this worksheet, download here.

Break: Time for another brain break.  Go grab yourself a drink and talk to someone about how you’re doing!  Remember to wash your hands for 20 seconds if you’re getting something to eat or after going to the toilet!

Joke:
What's a pirate's favorite letter?

Answer:  Rrrrrrrrr!

If you have any funny jokes to tell us, why not send them to year3@bgfjs.org so we can share them with everyone?

Lesson 2: Geography

1)   Today for Geography we are going to learn about time zones.

Click here to watch the videos to find out why in different places of the world it can be a different time of the day.

Lunch: It’s time to relax.  First things first, remember to wash your hands for 20 seconds before you eat!  What will you be devouring for lunch today?  Something mouth-watering and deliciously healthy?

Riddle: I'm always on the dinner table, but you don't get to eat me. What am I?  (The answer will be revealed at the end of the day...)

Lesson 3: Numeracy

1) Starter:

Convince me.
I know 1 + 9 = 10
so
10 + 90 = 100
and
100 + 90 = 100
Is this correct?
Explain your answer.
 2)   Practice your 5 and 8 times table. Click on the worksheet to download a printable version.

Great work today!

If you have any questions or would like to send your lovely work for us to see, email us at: year3@bgfjs.org

See you tomorrow for another day of learning!
