Happy Empathy Day!  The word empathy (em-puh-thee) means the ability to understand and share the feelings of another.  With what is happening at the moment, we need to understand and share our feelings more than ever.  If you would like to find out more information about Empathy Day, click on the image on the left.  For fun family activities download the activity pack here.
Buenos días Year 3!  ¿Qué tal? (How are you?)  We hope you are all keeping well and staying healthy!
Here is today's timetable:

Thank you year 3s for sending in your work.  We love reading your amazing work so if you would like to send work in, email us at: year3@bgfjs.org (remember to write your name!).  Take a look at some work by Ridwan, Yusuf K, Surah and Zakariya.
Here is a story about things we can do when we can't hug our friends. Click on the video to listen to While we can’t hug by author Eoin McLaughlin and illustrator Polly Dunbar.  It might just put a smile on your face!

9-9.30: PE with Joe Wicks.  Remember to take a rest or a sip of water if you need one.

Lesson 1: Numeracy

1)  Warm-up: Download the sheet and have a go at these questions.

2)  Today, we are recapping 2D shapes.  Watch the video and after, have a go at the question and quiz.
Picture
3) Draw a line to match each shape to its name.  [Tip: Count the number of sides].   What is the same and what is different about these shapes?
Picture
4)  Read the information below about 2D shapes .  Then, label the 2D shapes below.

Challenge: Can you label these shapes regular or irregular.  How do you know?
5)  We use Venn diagrams to sort objects or numbers.  How might we sort 2D shapes into two groups?  What headings might we use?   Cut out the shapes and sort them onto the Venn diagram using one of these rules:

  • Regular 2D shapes and Irregular 2D shapes
  • 2D shapes with more than 3 sides and 2D shapes with fewer than 3 sides
  • Create your own two rules to sort the 2D shapes!

End of the day:

Well done for putting in lots of effort in your work today!  Let’s take time now to unwind and relax.

Today’s story is called Spyder, written and illustrated by Matt Carr.  Click on the video to listen to the story.  Yes, it’s a fiction story with elements of non-fiction facts!

Remember to also aim to read 20-30 minutes each day and get someone to ask questions about what you have read. Go to Active Learn (Bug Club) or read a book.  Remember, reading a magazine or newspaper counts too!

Have a good evening and we shall see you tomorrow for another jam-packed day of learning.  Adiós!
