29/4/2020

Good morning Year 3!  Let’s take a look at what we are going to be learning about today!
Picture

Thank you to all the Year 3 working hard at home! We have really enjoyed reading your work and we love how you have embraced the challenges.

Here is some of yesterday's learning by Rayan R, Surah, Zakariya, Yusuf, Sahra and Maryam K.

9-9.30: PE with Joe

Lesson 1: Science
1. Today, we are going to continue learning about light.

This week, we are going to be learning about reflection. Light travels in straight lines. When light hits an object, it is reflected (bounces off) and enters our eyes. This is how we see an object.
Picture
Click the image below and watch this video and spot the reflective objects.
Picture
Surfaces of objects can be good or poor light reflectors.

Good light reflectors have smooth, light-coloured and shiny surfaces.
Picture
Poor light reflectors have dark- or dull-coloured surfaces.
Picture
2. Look around your home and find some good and poor light reflectors. Draw and label your drawings.
Picture
What do you notice? How would you describe a good light reflector?

3. Something Extra

Light Facts

Light is the fastest moving thing in the universe! It travels at 300,000 meters per second!

Light is made up of 7 colours: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.

What amazing light facts can you find out?

Send your research findings to year3@bgfjs.org. Here are some websites to help you:

Science for Kids
Cool Kid Facts
Ducksters

Break: Time for a short brain break.  Go grab yourself a drink.  Remember to wash your hands with soap for 20 seconds if you’re getting something to eat or after going to the toilet!

Joke: What do you call a boomerang that won’t come back?
Answer: A stick.
Remember to send us your funny jokes so that we can share them with everyone.  Send them to year3@bgfjs.org

Lesson 2:  Numeracy

1.  Practice more of your times tables on J2blast.

2. Rounding to the next 10.

Watch this video about rounding to the next 10.
Here is another video that might help you.

b) 1 rounded to the closest multiple of 10 is __.

c) 5 rounded to the closest multiple of 10 is __.

d) 3 rounded to the closest multiple of 10 is __.

Lesson 3: Computing

1.  Today, we are going to be looking at ‘conditionals.’
When the computer has to make a choice or selection it uses the if block command.

For example:

2. Click on the image below and have a go using the conditional blocks.

End of the day:
Great work today!

Click on the video below and listen to Pat Ryan tell the story of ‘Phoebe and The Boat.’

(The answer to lunch time’s riddle is… a mirror!)
