During this term, class 6 have been investigating which liquids do the most damage to teeth. They set up a fair test, keeping everything the same (jars, eggshells, amount of liquid and where the jars were placed in the classroom) apart from the 6 different liquids: water, cocoa cola, blackcurrant juice, orange juice, vinegar and milk. Class 6 predicted that water would do the least damage as this is good for teeth whereas cocoa cola would do the most damage as this contains a large amount of sugar. After a week, the eggshells were taken out of the jars to be examined. Using their results table, class 6 observed that the liquid that did the most damage to teeth was vinegar and not cocoa cola as predicted. This was because the vinegar turned the eggshell into a deflated balloon.
