Good morning Year 4! We hope you are well today and looking forward to another day. Don't forget to let us know how you're getting on by emailing year4@bgfjs.org

Daily Timetable

PE with Joe Wicks
LIVE 9:00-9:30

Get ready to start your day with another work out! Grab your water, find some space and let's join Joe for today's routine.

Literacy
Jasminara, Nasima and Louise's groups

1. Read the start of a story
  • Read Ananse, the forgetful guest Part 1 (page 2). This is the start of a story about Ananse. The story is from West Africa. Ananse is half-man, half-spider. What could you say about Ananse’s character?

2. Answer some questions
  • Read Part 1 Questions (page 4). Think carefully about your answers.
  • Write your answers as clear sentences.

3.  Predict the end of the story
  • What do you think could happen in the second part of the story? Will Ananse get to eat? How might that happen?
  • Use Story Summary and Predictions (page 5) to show your idea. Use words and pictures in the first three boxes to tell what has happened so far. Use the next three boxes to tell what you think might happen next.

Well done! Now show a grown-up your prediction for the end of the story. Can they think of a different way that it could end? You can check your answers to the Part 1 Questions at the end of this pack.

  • Can you make up a play about this part of the story? Write lines for Ananse, the king and the servants.
  • Can you make an illustration for this part of the story?
  • Can you write a description about what you would like to feast on if you had been journeying for days?

Vicky and Bonnie's groups

Well done for the work you have done so far this week! We would love to see what you have done so far.

Today you are going to do some more writing!

1. Look at the different categories on the Paper Bag Word Banks.(You'll find these in the links below.)
2. Moving from left to right, pick one word from each box to make a description, e.g. A lot of really handsome dragons.
3. Add more information to create a sentence. Write this on Paper Bag Sentences.
Paperbag princess writing
If you finish that, try this fun activity!

Cut out the Pictures of Prince Ronald, Princess Elizabeth and the Dragon or do your own drawings of them.
Use your figures to retell the story of The Paper Bag Princess and/or make up new adventures for the trio.

Spanish

We are going to be learning a new song in Spanish that is great for practising vocabulary. When I was little, I used this song to learn English but it will work for learning Spanish as well! Use the video below to learn the vocabulary and rhythm:
Once you listen to the first video, then you can use the second video to follow along with lyrics. Practise it several times and learn the words!!!

Storytime

You've made it to the end of another day! Well done, you're doing a brilliant job. Now it's time to relax with some more famous faces reading the next episode of James and the Giant Peach.
