Tuesday 21st April 2020

21/4/2020

Good morning year 4! We hope you are well. Well done for continuing to work hard .

Former astronaut Chris Hadfield has been to space three times and was commander of the 35th mission on the International Space Station in 2013. Astronauts spend some time self-isolating before going on space missions to ensure that they do not get sick before going into space. They often spend many months away from their family and friends, so it can sometimes get a bit lonely.

Chris has shared his top tips for p
eople who are self-isolating during the coronavirus outbreak - click here to read them.

What are your top-tips for self-isolating? Email us to let us know year4@bgfjs.org

Today you are going to continue to look at the poems 'How the Bumble Bee Got His Stripes' and 'The Dragon Who Ate Our School'.
Which of the poems do you prefer? Write down 3 reasons why.

Make a story map (or story board page 6) of your favourite of the two poems.

Now write a story version of this poem. Don't forget to use the descriptive tools that we have practised throughout Year 4 e.g. 2A sentences, fronted adverbials, interesting verbs.

We would love to read your stories - please send them in to us at year4@bgfjs.org

Literacy

We would like you to read through the Learning Reminder Cards which are in the link below.  They teach you all about adverbs.  After you have read through them work through the Adverbs Activities page.

Geography

We are continuing to look at Europe. This time we will be looking at human geography - how humans affect the space they live in.
You will begin by looking at the population (number of people) of countries in Europe, then you will look at the capital cities.
Open the worksheet to see your tasks.

Just for fun
Canada (North America) is one of the world’s best places to see the amazing phenomenon that is the Northern Lights! You can also see them in countries in Europe such as Norway, Iceland and even Scotland.
A live cam has been set up so explorers all around the world can catch the Northern Lights from the comfort of their own homes! They are not there all the time - can you see them?
Check out some of the other live cams on that page to see other exciting natural parts of the world!
