After hearing so much about the workshop from Class 7, we were very excited to be taking part in it ourselves. We got the opportunity to play all the different instruments that make up a gamelan ensemble. While we were playing, we had to work together cooperatively and listen out for the beat of the gongs to help us play our group's rhythms. On Monday, Class 7 went to a workshop with London Symphony Orchestra at St. Luke's. They had a wonderful time playing gamelan music, which is the traditional ensemble music of Bali in Indonesia. The gamelan is made up of mostly percussive instruments, such as metallophones, kendhang drums and gongs. Class 8 and 9 will be visiting later on in the term, they have a lot to look forward to! Class 9 have been preparing for their music trip on Monday with Michael. Each group was playing at a different tempo so it was quite challenging but we persevered and created a super sound!
