Emma's group have been grappling with using numberlines to subtract. In history, we have been learning about Ancient Egyptian pharaohs. We used two different websites and non-fiction books to make sure our research was as accurate as possible.
We really enjoyed listening to Pat Ryan telling stories from the Ancient Egyptian time. We were able to make links with traditional stories, such as 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf' and 'Cinderella'.
Charlotte's literacy group have been writing playscripts inspired by part of 'The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane' that they have been reading. Today, they began publishing them on a computer. They learnt to use a table to lay out their playscripts and how to make the borders disappear by turning them white. Next week, they will have the opportunity to act out their scenes with other children.
We have been learning to carry out research on the internet. Today, we researched the planets in our solar system and created our own version of Top Trumps.
We really enjoyed trying to demonstrate why we have night and day using globes and torches. We have also started to think about times of day and shadows and look forward to exploring this further. Year 5 have been learning the names of animals in Spanish. In class, they practised building sentences using the conjunction 'y' which means 'and'. They used pictures and built human sentences with the word cards.
