This half term, Class 7 have been working with Liz to practice their drawing and painting skills. They have spent time closely observing drains and then creating what they see. Here are some examples of what the children have made.
This half term, we have been creating poems about night-time. We spent time exploring different types of poems before crafting our own. We have learnt how to use metaphors in our writing to paint images in our reader's mind. Here is an example of a poem from Sophie's literacy group. I wonder if the picture in your imagination is similar to the painting below...
Today in Class 9, we had a go at solving some Sudoku puzzles. To start with, most of us used trial and improvement to work out where each digit should go but after a while, we realised that we needed to work backwards and systematically. We began to be much more successful when used phrases such as 'It can't be... because...' and 'It must be... because...'
In geography this term, we are comparing England, Spain and Brazil. We have been using atlases to find the coordinates of the countries and National Geographic map mapper to decide the climates.
This term the whole school have been exploring Here We Are by Oliver Jeffers. In year 5, we have really enjoyed discussing the themes of the book and reading poetry inspired these ideas.
We are entering a competition set by the Children's Bookshow. The theme is 'What makes you smile?' Today, Charlotte's class created drawings and collages to enter into the competition.
