In quick maths, we had a look at some additive yohaku puzzles.
Each row and each column must add together to create the total that is given to you. They were trickier than we expected and we moved in an out of the learning pit as the totals got higher. We persevered with them and in the end we didn't want the lesson to finish! In geography year 5 have been using mapmaker to explore the population concentration in England, Spain and Brazil. In year 5, we have been making Christmas cards that will be sent to people that are living on their own. We used a mixture of resources to create collages and unique designs.
Today Alice's maths group had a go at Nrich problem: Rounding decimal dice. We worked through the problem, being systematic to find all the possibilities and spotting patterns in our work. We discussed what we had noticed and made links to previous learning. At the end of the lesson, we weren't satisfied... We had so many 'what if' questions to explore! In pairs, we chose the question we wanted to dig deeper at and worked together on it. |
