13/4/2020

Good morning Year 5!
We hope that you had a lovely weekend.  We wonder whether anyone learnt a new skill or practised something that they would like to get better at?
Here's today's timetable.  Remember that you don't have to do all of the activities, as it is the Easter holidays, but we think that you will enjoy them!  You can send us photos of what you have been doing to year5@bgfjs.org .

9am - Let's see what Joe Wicks has got in store for us today!  Being active is a great way to keep your mind and body happy and healthy.

Holiday activity 1: Spanish
Picture
Recap last week's learning:
Can you match the correct phrase in Spanish to the English phrase to review what you revised last week?

Picture
Today we will be revising simple greetings and goodbyes in Spanish.
Watch this video.  After each phrase, you may want to pause and repeat Se
ñor Jordan to practise along with him.
Watch the video again.  This time, can you write what each word means in Spanish?

Now it's your turn to be the teacher!  Teach these phrases to someone in your family.

Time for a break!

Your brain will need a rest so wash your hands for 20 seconds, grab yourself some water and go and relax for a little bit.  Perhaps you could ask someone in your household what they have been doing this morning.

Holiday Activity 2: Learn some sign language
Picture

Watch this video to learn some words in sign language.  Practise using them at home and teach them to your family.

Marcus Rashford, the Manchester United and England striker, has been learning sign language too.  Click here to watch.

As well as learning words in sign language, there is also a fingerspelling alphabet.  The fingerspelling alphabet is used to spell out names of people and places for which there is not a sign.

Click on the button to see the fingerspelling alphabet.
Try to spell out your name in sign language!

Lunch:

Time to get some fuel for your body and brain to keep you healthy!  Remember that fruit and vegetables will help to give you a strong immune system.  Don't forget to wash your hands for 20 seconds before you eat.

Holiday activity 3:  You have worked very hard this morning, so this afternoon we have a treat instore for you!
Picture
Thanks to JK Rowling, the author of Harry Potter, you can listen to Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone for free!
So find yourself a quiet space, get comfy and relax as you enter the magical world of witchcraft and wizardry.

That's all for today Year 5.  We hope you have enjoyed all the activities.

Remember to keep happy and healthy.  It's important to tell someone if you're feeling worried about something.  If you would like to talk to Julianne about any worries or concerns you have, she has a new email that you can write to:  well-being@bgfjs.org .

We're missing seeing you all every day and thinking of you all.
Remember to be washing your hands as often as you can for 20 seconds each time.

Best wishes to you all and your families!
Charlotte, Alice and Sophie
