20/5/2020

Good morning year 5!

We hope you enjoyed the messages from staff yesterday. We really are missing you all and look forward to when things return to normal. Until then, stay positive and continue to share your lovely work with us at year5@bgfjs.org

Here is your timetable for today:

9am - PE with Joe

You've come so far with your fitness and stamina. Keep trying your hardest and giving his sessions your all.

Lesson 1 - Numeracy
In today's White Rose lesson, you will  be subtracting mixed numbers.  Finding equivalent fractions will be a useful memory link for this lesson.

Break time - Have a glass of water and leave your study space for a well deserved break.

Lesson 2 - Literacy
In today's literacy lesson you will learn about the features of a successful character description. This is similar to in school when we pull apart an example text, looking for language and structure features.

Don't forget to see what you remember from yesterday's lesson by taking the quiz at the beginning of the lesson.

Lunch time - It's time for lunch. Have a healthy meal, drink some water and stretch your legs. Don't forget to wash your hands for 20 seconds before you eat anything.

Lesson 3 - Geography
You have finished your unit of work on rivers now and we are so impressed with the hard work that we have been sent that in today's lesson you will be playing some fun geography games!
Picture
Memory link - These games will test your understanding of continents, oceans and seas, countries and capital cities. You will need to think back to all your locational knowledge lessons, where we explored different continents using atlases.
1. Continents and oceans
Click on the links below and locate the continent or ocean by clicking on it.

2. Countries within the continents
In school, we spent half a term exploring each of these continents to link with our geography or history topic or our literacy book.
Click the links below to locate different countries in the continent. If you're really stuck with one, you can press skip.

South America
Africa

When you have completed these games, feel free to explore the website further and test you memory of capital cities, flags or mountain ranges.

End of day - Enjoy an e-book!

That's all for today year 5!

Once again well done for your fantastic effort and hard work.  Don't forget the Eid cards you started! Maybe you can finish them up this evening away from your study space. If not, relax and enjoy a well deserved rest before Friday.
