Wednesday 9th December 2020

9/12/2020

Good morning Year 5!

We hope that you slept well and are feeling ready for another day of learning. Remember to email your teachers at year5@bgfjs.org so that we can see the great learning you have been doing.

Before you start today's learning, take a moment to think about how you could aim high today. Perhaps you could grapple with a new maths challenge, fill your imagination with new words from a story  or fill someone's bucket with some kind words...

Lesson 2 - Literacy
In this lesson, we will be discussing the writer's purpose for writing this poem and the reasons he made certain language choices.
Literacy lesson
Now spend 30 minutes reading a book from home or from Active Learn.

Lunch
Wash your hands for 20 seconds before enjoying a healthy lunch with your family.
Afterwards, have a go at a body scan to relax your mind and body, ready for this afternoon's activities.

Lesson 3 - Art

Click on the link below to find out about Yinka Shonibare, an artist who connects different cultures and reveals hidden histories.
Meet Yinka Shonibare
Activity: Make an artwork that celebrates being a citizen of the world. Using pencils, paints or collage, create a piece of art that shows what it means to live in and be a part of the world. You can't get this right or wrong because it will look different for each of us.

If you are struggling for ideas, think about:
- our philosophy session, where we discussed what it means to be human
- life at home and at school
- friends and family
- how Coronavirus is impacting our lives

End of the day - Storytime
Continue listening to Harry Potter. Here is the link for the first book, ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’.  Click on the chapter that you are up to and enjoy!

If you have finished listening to the first book, then here is the link to the second book, ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’.

Well done for getting to the end of another learning day! Your teachers love hearing from you so remember to email us at year5@bgfjs.org.

Have a restful evening with your family,
Sophie, Alice, Charlotte, Nasima and Lauren
