Yoga with Adriene: Day 29

1st lesson: Literacy

1. Today we are drafting our conclusion. What a mammoth journey it's been! The year 6 teachers have been so impressed with your writing over the last few weeks. You have shown so much independence and a real growth mindset. We've really loved seeing you grow as writers and develop your authorial voices. Well done!

2. Use the sentence frames to help you write your own conclusion.

Remember to include:

1. A summary of Annie's achievements
2. Legacy (why she is so inspirational and her strong personality)

3. Click on the BBC link first to learn more about prefixes. Then, complete the questions.

4. Spend at least 30 minutes a day reading your Active Learn books and answering the comprehension questions. Remember to email your teachers if you run out of books.

2nd lesson: Maths

1) To help us warm up for today's maths lesson, let's try sorting some proper fractions, improper fractions and fractions equal to one whole. Place all the fractions in the box below into the correct columns underneath.

2) Spend 30 minutes completing assigned activities on Mathletics.
3) Spend 15 mins at least on Times Tables Rock Stars.

4)  Now let's have a look at the main part of the activity. Today we are going to continue looking at fractions by building on our understanding of fractions greater than one, converting improper fractions into mixed numbers and converting mixed numbers into improper fractions. In this lesson about number sequences, linking in counting on (and backwards) in mixed numbers and improper fractions.

As always, it is extremely important you watch the video lesson first to help you understand the lesson and then have a go at the activities underneath. You could always revisit Alice's video on equivalent fraction from Friday's Home Learning Blog.

I have included the answers for you to check once you've completed as much of the activity as you can do.

Remember you can write out the activities and calculations on paper, you don't need to print them.

On Tuesday, 9 February 2021, we celebrated the 18th edition of Safer Internet Day. Therefore, in our Computing lesson today we thought it would be a good opportunity to review our understanding of using technology safely, respectfully and responsibly.

First, we will have another go at taking the Safer Internet Day Quiz, just in case you didn't get a chance to do the quiz on Tuesday. Click in the link below to take the quiz.
Safer Internet Day Quiz
Secondly, we thought it would be a good idea to revisit Google's Interland Internet Safety Activities.
Picture
Click on the link button below to play Google's Interlard, a game with four different worlds that reminds you about keeping safe online.

The blue world teaches you to think before sharing information.
The yellow world reminds you about keeping personal information private and secure.
The green world explores respecting each other and encourages you to, “treat others as you would like to be treated”.
Finally, the red world gets you to consider that it is important to be aware that people and situations online aren’t always as they seem and that you are able to tell the difference between what’s real and what’s fake.

Write a bullet point list of 5 things you have learned (or reminded yourself about) in today's Computing lesson.

E.g. I have been reminded to create strong passwords containing: capital letters, numbers and characters.

As always remember to keep safe online and trouble free, as Google puts it, "Be Internet Awesome"!

Dear year Six, enjoy your half term break next week and see you back on the home learning blog on Monday 22nd February.
