Good Morning Year 6, hope you had  a good weekend.
 
Before we start today's activities. Let's have a quick look at what the Year 6 school learning bubbles were up to last week.
A big focus was our WW2 History topic where we looked at evacuees and the air raids. The children found out that all children had to carry a gas mask in case there was a gas bomb attack. The children made their own gas mask boxes, similar to the ones used during WW2. Look at the slide show below.

Next, the children looked at how people protected themselves from air raids during WW2 and found that some people built air raid shelters in their garden. These were called Anderson shelters. Year 6 made some models of Anderson shelter, have a look at the slide show below. 
The other bubble took part in a Design and Technology project to design an earthquake proof building. The children constructed their buildings using small marshmallows and cocktail sticks. The structures were placed on some jelly and their strength tested on a shaking machine. See the slide show below.

2nd lesson: Literacy

This week, you will be learning to write a newspaper report As you know from the previous weeks, this means really understanding what a good one looks like, the exploring the language and grammatical features they use and the impact the author has on the reader.
