Good morning Year 6!
Let's begin by continuing with another activity to help us think about adjusting to our new secondary school in September. In this activity we are focusing on what you are and what you are not looking forward to about your new school. You'll also be asked to think about what you know about secondary school and to consider any questions you still have about it. If you have any questions, think about who you might ask to help you.
You can always revisit the Bitesize link from the other day, click on the button just before the activity.
Remember there is always someone you can turn to if you would like to talk about your feelings. You could talk to a member of your family or someone at Blue Gate Fields Junior school using the year6@bgfjs.org email address. You could also contact Julianne or Kaz on their school email address which is: well-being@bgfjs.org

As I mentioned the other day, as Joe is only doing 3 lessons a week now, we have gone back in time to revisit a session he did in April.
1st lesson: Numeracy
Today in maths we are going to review finding the area and perimeter of polygons . Click on the link below to watch the White Rose lesson video (Summer Term 10, lesson 4 - Ratio and proportion problems).
Next, click on the link to do the Bitesize lesson on: Solving problems involving ratio in different contexts.
Break
2nd lesson: Literacy
In your journey towards writing a newspaper report, we have already practised how to retrieve information from a text and explored the features of a newspaper report. As you learned yesterday, one of the features is the use of direct speech (quotes). Today you will be looking more deeply at how to use direct speech to write quotes.
Lunch
A great morning. Time for a healthy lunch.
3rd lesson: Science
In Science this week we are going to continue learning about Fossils and Animals over Time using the Oak National Academy lessons. Today we'll look at the fourth lesson which looks at: Which organisms lived during each era of time?
The lesson starts with an introductory quiz, next there is a lesson video and finally there is a final lesson quiz to see what you have learnt in the lesson.

End of the day
Today we are going to read and listen to a poem written by Joseph Coelho.
Joseph grew up in Roehampton on the outskirts of London. Living in a tower block and other childhood memories feature in many of his poems.
He says that he wasn’t able to read or write properly until he was seven years old, and the idea of being a writer did not occur to him when he was young. But at secondary school he began to write poetry, beginning with a poem titled “Unbearable” – about a bear!
He studied archaeology at university and then had lots of different jobs – gym instructor, salesman and even being an ‘extra’ on film sets! But he continued to write plays and poems, and now enjoys being a poet and performer.
