Good Morning Year Six!
Hope you are all keeping well, especially after all the yoga you've been doing this week!
Don't forget to send in your home learning to us, either as an image or on a document attachment to firstname.lastname@example.org. Make sure you include your name and class when submitting your work to us. You could send your work in using your school email address we taught you how to use last term. Just to remind you how to do this, go to the Gmail login page, the email address is you school user name followed by @bgfjs.org and the password is your school login password (Password).
If you want to have a chat, Julianne and Kaz are available using the email address below.
Make sure that you use your parents email to write to them.
I hope you are well. I am missing you all very much. I am inviting you to take part in a school story project called ‘Once upon a Phoenix…..’ while we are at home. We are all going to be storytellers using drawings, role play and our most important tool, our imaginations! I will send out a piece of the story every week with tasks for you to do.
For more details about the project, click on the button below.
1st lesson: Literacy
- How would you describe Bradley's character so far? List at least three personality traits.
E.g. Bradley is disobedient because he does not listen to his teachers. In fact he does the opposite of what is asked!
- At the beginning of the story, he is described as ‘an island.’ What impression does this give you of him? Use evidence from the text to support your answer. Use PEE to help you compose your answer.
2nd lesson: Maths
2) Spend 15 mins at least on Times Tables Rock Stars.
It is important you watch the video lesson first and then have a go at the activities underneath the video screen.
I have included the answers for you to check once you've completed as much of the activity as you can do.
Remember you don't need to print the activity out, you can write out your work and calculate your answers on plain paper.
3rd lesson: Science
Sign into Espresso first then follow the link below to find out about the scientist Carl Linnaeus. (You can click on the link first and then sign into Espress0).
Remember, Espresso is an online library with videos, fact files and online activities covering most of the curriculum.
There is one username and password for all of the students in our school:
Read the five web pages on Carl Linnaeus from Espresso.
His system for naming, ranking, and classifying organisms is still in wide use today (with many changes). His ideas on classification have influenced generations of scientists.
Write 5 fascinating facts about Carl Linnaeus in relation to classification.
E.g. Carl Linnaeus is most famous for inventing a system for naming plants and animals (a system we still use today).

We are very impressed with your efforts you are putting in to your home learning. Keep up the hard work!
Have a restful evening with your families and we will see you back on here tomorrow morning.
