8/10/2020

Good morning Year 6!

Hope you had a restful evening. Well done for sending in all your home learning, you're all amazing!

Please ensure you are spending at least 30 minutes each everyday on both Active Learn (Bug Club) and Mathletics.

Let's have a look at what we've got in store for you today.

P.E. with Joe Wicks

Let's start the day with PE from Joe to get us ready for a great day of home learning.

1st lesson: Literacy

Scroll through these inspirational phrases.

What do you notice about them?
What message is being shared through these words of encouragement?
What grammatical features do you notice?
What word class does each phrase begin with?
Yes, that's right! Each phrase begins with a verb; an imperative or bossy verb. These verbs instruct and command someone to do something. Sentences that begin with an imperative verb are called commands. We use them in instructional writing.

Today we are going to be revisiting and building our understanding of commands. Download the PowerPoint using the link below or use the slideshow feature to view the slides.

Using the inspirational phrases from the start of today's literacy lesson, we would like you to create your own. Imagine you are giving your friend some advice and words of encouragement on how to take care of themselves. You will be using these phrases in your own writing over the coming weeks!

Break

Be kind to yourself!

2nd lesson: Maths

Today we are going to continue reviewing place value in Maths by looking at numbers to one million (1,000,000). Let's start by looking at the White Rose teaching video for today's lesson.

Aut5.2.4 - Numbers to a million from White Rose Maths on Vimeo.

Next, let's try and do the activities below using your understanding of place value and number up to 1,000,000. You can either download the PDF (see below) and print or just do the activities on paper.
